Developing leaders
Leadership brings increasing complexity as responsibility grows. Whether someone is stepping into their first leadership role, moving into a more senior position, or leading through sustained change, the demands are often less about technical skill and more about judgement, influence and making decisions under pressure.
We work with organisations to support leaders at different stages of their development. This may involve helping newer leaders build confidence and capability, supporting experienced leaders as they take on broader or more complex roles, or providing a confidential sounding board for senior leaders navigating ambiguity, competing priorities and organisational change.
Our approach to leadership development is reflective, psychologically informed and grounded in organisational realities. We focus on helping leaders understand how they show up, how their behaviour and decisions are experienced by others, and what may be getting in the way of effective leadership. The work emphasises insight, perspective and practical shifts that support more effective leadership over time.
We partner with organisations to provide one-on-one executive and leadership coaching, as well as longer-term development support for high-potential and emerging leaders. This work is tailored to the context, culture and challenges of each organisation, rather than delivered as a generic program.
Schafer Group draws on over two decades of experience in organisational development, leadership consulting and coaching across large and complex Australian organisations, including ANZ, Australian Unity, Officeworks, Monash University, ASG, PEXA, Hudson, PPC Worldwide and Myer. Our work is informed by deep experience within organisations, as well as an understanding of the personal and relational demands placed on leaders.
